The Evolution / Galaxy Gaming deal is taking 18 months, resetting US gaming M&A timelines
Evolution AB’s acquisition of Galaxy Gaming (announced July 2024) has been extended again, current deadline July 17, 2026, pending remaining US state regulatory approvals. Mississippi secured approval in November 2025. The July 17 deadline coincides with Evolution’s Q2 2026 earnings release, creating a binary event: deal closes and earnings land together, or the deadline extends again while results publish independently.
The Galaxy timeline is now the clearest public data point for US gaming M&A regulatory duration: 18–24 months minimum for a deal touching multiple US state-licensed environments. This reprices deal risk for any acquirer looking at US-exposed iGaming assets. The strategic logic, using Galaxy’s land-based casino-floor relationships to bridge online live dealer into regulated US physical environments, requires state-by-state approval from gaming commissions unused to cross-channel integration at this scale.
The 18-month approval window will push M&A buyers toward pre-cleared deal structures and targets already licensed in multiple states, accelerating the premium for pre-licensed platforms. For sellers of US-exposed iGaming assets, the message is structural: build multi-state licensing before the sale process begins.
